Three years in the making, SHIP WITHOUT RUDDER is a magical journey in words and music, which began life in Buenos Aires, developed in Colorado, and was completed in an old chapel in Ivinghoe, England. The 45-minute piece mixes family history with tales of love, loss and fate, wrapped in the story of a ship that voyages the world. The narrative stretches over centuries, and the evocative music mirrors the unfolding poetry.

SHIP WITHOUT RUDDER has been described as:
"A dream… A trip…"
"Amazing music, like nothing I've ever heard before…"
"A really special album…"
"Listening to this takes me to other places and times…"

The stellar cast of musicians joining Roger and Harlan on the CD includes saxophonist Paul Gillieron, Mike Simmonds on violin, percussionists Kristian Cockburn and Jean Stevens, Colin Stevens on accordion, and Maya Cockburn and Lucianne Lassalle on vocals. Narration is by Maya Cockburn and Peter McKellar, with the additional voices of Harlan Cockburn, Raphael Skerratt and Roger Hillier.

This is the 20th release on the Norwich-based DJC label, which also includes Kevin Coyne, The Bonzo Dog Band and Damien Barber among its roster of artists. (www.jacana.demon.co.uk/djc)
