Leeds Art Gallery In October 2013 we visited Leeds for the preview of the exhibition Art and Life, showing the work of Ben Nicholson, Winifred Nicholson, Christopher Wood, Alfred Wallis and William Staite Murray, 1920–1931. Jovan Nicholson, the grandson of Ben and Winifred, curated the exhibition and is the author of the catalogue. In Spring 2014 the exhibition moved to Kettle's Yard, Cambridge and then to Dulwich Picture Gallery in the summer.
The photographs show Jovan, Jovan's wife Elena, and Rebecca England, Exhibitions Officer from Dulwich Picture Gallery. The painting is Bankshead Flowers in an Alabaster Jar by Winifred Nicholson. As well as the exhibition, and the permanent collection, Leeds Art Gallery has a magnificent tiled hall, now home to the gallery cafe.
